„Wasser des Lebens“? War das nicht ein Märchen der Gebrüder Grimm, in dem König Ansgar unter einer unheilbaren Krankheit leidet und er durch ein Wundermittel, das jede erdenkliche Krankheit heilen kann, gerettet wird? Welche schöne Vorstellung, wenn man diese Krankheit am eigenen Leibe erfahren darf oder besser gesagt muss. Leider ist es halt doch nur ein Märchen und von einem Wundermittel sind wir doch noch weit entfernt. Oder gibt es das „Wasser des Lebens“ doch und wir wissen einfach nur nicht, wo wir es finden können?
Tatsächlich gibt es dieses „Wasser des Lebens“ schon seit Jahrhunderten. Dieses „Wundermittel“ wurde von irischen und später auch von schottischen Mönchen kranken Menschen zur Stärkung gegeben. Und es existiert auch heute noch. Dieses Heilgetränk heißt: Whisky! [1]
Natürlich kann dieses „Wasser des Lebens“ keine ALS heilen. Auch wenn es natürlich ein Traum wäre, wenn es so einfach wäre. Dennoch hat Whisky für mich im Zusammenhang mit ALS eine Bedeutung. Nicht um den ganzen Frust und die Verzweiflung im Alkohol zu ertränken. Nein. Durch die ALS sind die Möglichkeiten, das Leben zu spüren, doch ziemlich eingeschränkt. Und mit dem Fortschreiten der Krankheit immer mehr. Also genieße ich umso mehr die kleinen Dinge im Leben. Das bewusste Erfahren mit den verbliebenen Sinnen. Vom ersten Geruch in der Nase, über die unterschiedlichen Aromen auf der Zunge bis hin zum ersten Schluck. Ich schließe dabei häufig die Augen und versinke in dieser Explosion der verschiedenen Eindrücke. Und für einen winzig kleinen Moment vergesse ich meine Krankheit. Spüre das Leben in mir. Die Normalität.
Aber das ist nicht alles. Whisky verbindet. Und gerade mich auch mit Marco. Bei jedem Schluck Whisky denke ich auch an meine Mitstreiter. Immer mit der Hoffnung verbunden, dass es vielleicht doch irgendwo da draußen das wirkliche „Wasser des Lebens“ gibt, das dem Leiden so vieler Betroffenen weltweit endlich ein Ende bereitet.
